Jumbo Rebar Anchors

Jumbo rebar anchors are used in concrete foundations for transmission poles, large sign structures, and other heavily loaded steel structures. Their large-diameter steel bodies provide strength, while the raised ribs help transfer loads into the surrounding concrete.

Machined, threaded ends accommodate nuts and washers to secure the structure’s base plate, making these anchors a practical solution for demanding foundation applications.

What Are Jumbo Rebar Anchors?

Jumbo rebar anchors are made from oversized reinforcing bars with ends machined and threaded to accept nuts and washers. Unlike standard reinforcing bars, which primarily reinforce concrete, these bars also provide a threaded connection for attaching a steel structure to its foundation.

The common sizes, #14J and #18J, are manufactured with additional material to allow proper threads to be machined into the ends. The embedded portion retains its raised ribs, which help develop anchorage within the concrete.

Not the same as standard rebar. Standard #14 and #18 reinforcing bars should not be assumed interchangeable with #14J and #18J jumbo anchor bars.

Material & Available Sizes

Imperial supplies jumbo rebar anchors in #14J and #18J sizes, with Grade 75 material available to meet project requirements. Grade 75 identifies a minimum yield strength of 75,000 psi. The jumbo bar profile provides additional material for machining the threaded ends while retaining the deformed body used for anchorage in concrete.

*Dimensions and weights are reference values. Confirm actual material dimensions and required clearances against supplier documentation and approved project drawings.

Threaded Ends & Hardware

Jumbo rebar anchor ends are machined to remove the ribs in the threaded area, creating a uniform surface for threading. Thread lengths and configurations are manufactured to the approved project drawings to accommodate the structure’s base plate, leveling adjustments, and specified hardware.

Imperial supplies anchors with ASTM A563 Grade DH heavy hex nuts and ASTM F436 hardened washers, as specified for the project. Custom plate washers are also available in the required dimensions and thickness.

  • Threaded ends: Specify one end or both ends.

  • Thread length: Identify the required length at each end.

  • Hardware quantities: Specify nuts and washers per anchor, including hardware for leveling and templates.

  • Finish: Identify plain or galvanized hardware to match project requirements.

Thread length and projection above concrete are different measurements. Both should be clearly identified on the approved drawings.
